About

STACEY CLUNEY
Born in San Jose, CA
Grew up in Maine
Lives in Skowhegan, Maine
Stacey Cluney was born in California to a Buddhist father and raised in Maine by a Mormon mother, creating an early theme of duality in her existence. She has been making art her entire life, but at forty-two made the decision to finish the art degree she began after high school. Earning a BFA in Studio Art has elevated her art and conceptual thinking to a realm she never imagined possible. Not just making pretty pictures anymore, Cluney delves into personally meaningful, but difficult themes, such as body dysmorphia, mental illness, and aging. She uses the medium of oil paint to explore and bring awareness to taboo subjects. In the future, she plans to grow her knowledge and artistic vision by pursuing an MFA and perhaps pass this on to others.
